BREAKING: Track and field icon Mondo Duplantis is stirring the pot ahead of the highly anticipated men’s 100-meter showdown on the Diamond League circuit, teasing Olympic champion Noah Lyles about the recent altercation with teammate Kenny Bednarek. This playful exchange occurred during a press conference in Poland just hours before the race, igniting excitement among fans.

Duplantis, the pole vault world record holder, couldn’t resist asking Lyles about the dramatic push he received from Bednarek after winning the 200 meters at the U.S. national championships two weeks ago. “Can I ask a question?” he prompted, grinning widely. “I want to ask Noah about, like, that stare down and that push… because that (expletive) was kinda crazy game.”

Responding with humor, Lyles echoed his previous stance, stating, “As coach said: ‘No comment,’” which drew laughter from the room. Duplantis, not backing down, replied, “Fair enough, fair enough. I enjoyed it, though, I enjoyed it.”

As the rivalry heats up, Lyles turned the tables, asking Duplantis to avoid setting another world record on Saturday. “No comment, no comment,” the Swedish star quipped, referencing his recent achievement of clearing 6.29 meters, setting a new world record just earlier this week in Hungary.

The 100-meter race is shaping up to be the marquee event, featuring a rematch between Lyles and Kishane Thompson, who clocked a stunning 9.75 seconds in Kingston this June. Bednarek, ranked second this season at 9.79 seconds, confirmed he and Lyles have since reconciled after their heated exchange.

Lyles remarked, “You basically have the Olympic final maybe missing two people, adding in some just as fast people.” His current season best stands at a flat 10 seconds from London last month. “Of course,” he added, “having Kishane there makes it even better.”

The excitement is palpable as fans eagerly await the rivalry’s next chapter. With the world championships just around the corner in Tokyo, every race counts, and this weekend promises to be a thrilling display of athletic prowess.
