Regina Red Sox Clinch WCBL Title in Thrilling 5-4 Comeback

UPDATE: The Regina Red Sox have just claimed the 2025 Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) championship, defeating the Sylvan Lake Gulls 5-4 in a nail-biting Game 3 on August 5, 2025. This victory marks the Red Sox’s third championship in franchise history and their first since their back-to-back wins in 2011 and 2012.
In a dramatic turn of events, the Red Sox faced elimination just one day prior, having lost the first game of the series at home on August 3, 2025, 3-2 in extra innings. Fighting back on the road, Regina rallied from a two-run deficit on August 4, scoring an astonishing six runs in the top of the 9th inning to secure a 10-7 victory and force the decisive Game 3.
The championship clincher began with a strong start from the Red Sox. A crucial base hit from Regina-native Brady Bye led to an error by the Gulls, allowing Rafael Jackson to score the game’s opening run. Shortstop Matthew Fox shined, going 3-for-4 at the plate and scoring one run.
Starting pitcher Chris Spry held the Gulls to just three runs on three hits through five innings before handing the ball to reliever Ayden Page. In a tense moment, Page came in during a bases-loaded jam and delivered an outstanding performance, pitching five innings, allowing only one earned run on six hits, and striking out six batters to earn the victory.
Despite a brief lead by Sylvan Lake in the fifth inning, the Red Sox reclaimed control in the seventh and maintained their advantage until the end. This thrilling comeback not only celebrates the team’s resilience but also ignites excitement among fans who have awaited a championship for over a decade.
As the celebrations commence in Regina, the Red Sox have reignited a passionate fanbase and showcased their determination on the field. The victory resonates beyond the diamond, serving as a powerful reminder of the impact of teamwork and perseverance.
Stay tuned for more details and reactions from fans and players as this story develops. The Regina Red Sox have proven themselves champions once again, and the sports world is buzzing with excitement!
