RBC Strengthens Commitment to Canadian Open with Multi-Year Deal

Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) has announced the extension of its sponsorship of the Canadian Open in a multi-year agreement, solidifying its commitment to professional golf in Canada. The deal, revealed on Monday, also applies to the RBC Heritage, which RBC has sponsored since 2012. The bank has held the title sponsorship of the Canadian Open since 2008.
Significance of the Sponsorship
Brian Rolapp, CEO of the PGA Tour, expressed gratitude for the renewed partnership, stating, “As the title sponsor of two events on the PGA Tour schedule, RBC plays an essential role in golf, providing both critical development at the amateur level and life-changing moments for the world’s greatest players.” The agreement highlights RBC’s role in enhancing the visibility and prestige of the RBC Canadian Open, Canada’s national championship.
RBC is one of only two organizations sponsoring two tournaments on the PGA Tour calendar, alongside Genesis. Other notable sponsors include FedEx, which backs the season-long race to the FedExCup and the FedEx St. Jude Championship. In addition to its tournament sponsorships, RBC supports a range of Canadian golfers competing on the PGA and LPGA Tour, including recent winners such as Sam Burns, Cameron Young, and Sahith Theegala.
Elevating Canadian Golf
Laurence Applebaum, CEO of Golf Canada, praised the partnership, stating, “Golf Canada is extremely proud to celebrate the extension of a tremendous partnership with our friends at RBC as well as the PGA Tour. From investing in access for the next generation of young golfers to supporting pros, RBC is the most committed, invested, and engaged partner in Canadian golf.” This partnership has been pivotal in fostering the growth of Canada’s historic National Open Championship.
RBC’s sponsorship had previously been structured as a series of one-year agreements, particularly in light of the uncertainties that arose following the launch of LIV Golf in 2022. The transition to a multi-year commitment signals a stabilization within the sport, reassuring stakeholders about its future.
Mary DePaoli, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of RBC, remarked, “We are pleased to extend our long-standing relationship with the PGA Tour and look forward to continuing to work with our partners to elevate the RBC Heritage and RBC Canadian Open for players and fans. The unforgettable moments these events create bring our communities together and inspire golfers at every level, from grassroots to our Team RBC professionals.”
The 2026 RBC Canadian Open is set to return to TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley’s North Course. This year, Ryan Fox clinched victory at TPC Toronto, defeating Sam Burns in a playoff.
