GameScience Unveils Black Myth: Zhong Kui at Gamescom 2025

GameScience, the acclaimed Chinese game development studio known for its previous title, Black Myth: Wukong, has officially announced its next project, Black Myth: Zhong Kui. This announcement was made during the Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live event, where the studio also premiered the game’s first cinematic trailer. The trailer showcases the ambitious vision behind this new title, developed using Unreal Engine 5.
Set in an ancient Chinese fantasy realm, Black Myth: Zhong Kui draws inspiration from the traditional folktale Zhong Kui Banishing Evil. The new game represents the second installment in the Black Myth series, following the highly anticipated Wukong. The studio aims to continue its mission of reimagining classic myths through modern gameplay and storytelling techniques.
While the release date remains undisclosed, the unveiling of the debut trailer indicates that development is officially underway. GameScience has articulated its intention to build upon the lessons learned from Wukong, refining core gameplay systems while introducing innovative ideas to create a distinctive action role-playing game experience.
Innovative Gameplay and Narrative
“Zhong Kui is a title that aims to push the boundaries of our design philosophy,”
stated a representative from GameScience. The studio is striving to address past flaws and regrets, showcasing a commitment to evolve its approach. This dedication suggests that players can expect a more polished and ambitious product upon release.
The game promises not only dynamic gameplay but also immersive storytelling, which is a hallmark of GameScience’s development philosophy. Expectations are high, as the studio prepares to introduce fresh ideas that enhance the player experience and engage audiences worldwide.
As excitement continues to build following its reveal, Black Myth: Zhong Kui is poised to become one of the most talked-about titles from Gamescom 2025. The game is set to release on PC and all major consoles, though further details regarding its launch are yet to be announced.
As fans eagerly await updates on this highly anticipated project, GameScience’s commitment to delivering a compelling narrative and engaging gameplay stands out as a central theme in their development journey.
