New Beatles Anthology Projects Set for Fall Release

Fans of The Beatles can look forward to a treasure trove of new content this fall, with exciting projects set to launch across various platforms. The iconic band will see the return of “The Beatles Anthology” in an enhanced format, featuring a restored and remastered version of the original 1995 documentary alongside new music and literature.
Restored Documentary and New Music
The remastered “The Beatles Anthology” will stream on Disney+ starting on November 26, 2023. This updated documentary chronicles the band’s evolution from their beginnings in Liverpool to their worldwide fame. Notably, the new release will include a ninth episode that offers behind-the-scenes footage of Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr as they collaborated in 1994-1995, reflecting on their life as The Beatles.
In a significant contribution to the music, Giles Martin, the son of the late Beatles producer George Martin, has crafted new audio mixes for much of the documentary’s featured music. In addition to the documentary, a new album titled “Anthology 4” will be released on November 21, 2023. This album will include 13 previously unreleased demos, session recordings, and rare tracks, alongside remastered versions of the first three Anthology albums.
Exciting New Releases and Literature
“Anthology 4” will also feature new mixes of the tracks “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love,” which were initially part of the Anthology project. The original music video for “Free As A Bird” has been restored as part of this effort. Additionally, the last Beatles song, “Now And Then,” will be included in the upcoming releases. All three singles were developed from home demos recorded by John Lennon shortly before his death in 1980, with contributions from McCartney, Harrison, and Starr completed later.
On October 14, 2023, a 25th anniversary edition of “The Beatles Anthology Book” will be available, featuring reflections from all four band members. This edition captures their experiences and insights, along with contributions from notable figures such as Neil Aspinall, George Martin, and Derek Taylor. As highlighted in the release, “The Anthology was always about their past, but this new edition confirms its enduring place in the present and future.”
These upcoming releases come as Beatles enthusiasts prepare for not one, but four feature films directed by Sam Mendes, each focusing on a different member of the band. The films will star Paul Mescal as McCartney, Joseph Quinn as Harrison, Barry Keoghan as Starr, and Harris Dickinson as Lennon.
With these projects on the horizon, the legacy of The Beatles continues to resonate, ensuring that fans old and new can celebrate the band’s enduring impact on music and culture.
