Red River College Launches New Programs to Meet Industry Demands

Red River College Polytech is set to welcome students back for the 2023-2024 school year on September 11, 2023, with the introduction of five new programs aimed at addressing the evolving demands of the job market. Among these initiatives is a fresh offering in entertainment production, spearheaded by instructor Brendon Sawatzky.
New Program Addresses Growing Industry Needs
The entertainment production program is designed for individuals eager to manage creative projects from inception to completion. “It’s really suited for people who want to take a creative project from start to finish,” Sawatzky explained. He highlighted a significant gap in the industry, noting, “There’s really not enough producers. Everyone you talk to has a film they would like to do, write or direct, and so a need for more producers is really important.”
This new program reflects a broader strategy by Red River College to adapt its curriculum to better meet the demands of various industries. By offering practical skills and knowledge, the college aims to prepare students for careers in sectors that are rapidly changing.
Comprehensive Educational Offerings
The launch of the entertainment production program is part of a larger initiative, with four additional programs debuting this academic year. These programs are tailored to equip students with the skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly competitive job landscape.
As industries transform, educational institutions like Red River College Polytech are taking proactive steps to ensure that their programs remain relevant and valuable. This approach not only benefits students looking to enter the workforce but also meets the needs of employers in the creative and production sectors.
With the growing interest in film and media, the timing of this new program seems particularly advantageous, potentially paving the way for future producers and creatives to emerge from Red River College.
