Milwaukee Woman Charged After $10K Car Damage Over DoorDash Order

UPDATE: A Milwaukee woman is facing serious legal consequences after allegedly causing $10,000 in damages to a delivery driver’s car, all stemming from an undelivered food order. Authorities have charged Janiyah Jones with felony criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct after tracking the DoorDash driver to her home.
The incident occurred in July 2023 when delivery driver Faith Morris experienced technical issues while attempting to deliver a food order from Fryers restaurant. Morris was unable to complete the delivery due to phone service disruptions and returned home to cancel the order. However, it was then that she began receiving alarming messages from Jones, who allegedly tracked her using the DoorDash app.
Morris expressed her fear, stating, “There’s no way that she should have been able to call me for an hour after this happened. An hour? It’s absolutely insane.” Just minutes after the messages, surveillance footage from a Ring doorbell captured Jones approaching Morris’s home, where she was seen violently attacking Morris’s vehicle with a tire iron and smashing windows.
The Milwaukee police were able to identify Jones through DoorDash’s GPS data and matching her appearance with body camera footage from a previous incident. Morris, meanwhile, has been unable to work as a delivery driver since the attack, highlighting the emotional and financial toll this bizarre situation has taken on her life.
“This is a crazy situation that’s going viral because a lot of people have never heard of something like this,” Morris remarked, emphasizing the shock and disbelief surrounding the incident.
DoorDash responded to the violence in a statement, calling Jones’s actions “completely uncalled for, unacceptable, and disturbing.” If convicted, Jones faces up to 3.5 years in prison for the felony charge, alongside a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge.
This developing story raises urgent questions about safety in food delivery and the lengths some customers might go to over service issues. As this case continues to unfold, both the local community and online audiences are left in shock, eager for the next update on this unprecedented incident.
