Sass Jordan to Headline Ingersoll’s Good For the Soll Festival

Thousands of music enthusiasts will gather in Ingersoll, Ontario, this weekend for the second annual Good For the Soll Music Festival. The event, taking place on September 30, 2023, at Memorial Park, aims to celebrate community spirit through music and entertainment.

Festival founder and music promoter Jay Panaseiko is optimistic about this year’s turnout. “The entire community’s behind it,” he stated, highlighting the growing support for the festival. Last year’s edition featured the London-based rock band Helix, which attracted over 4,000 attendees to the free concert. This year, the spotlight will be on Canadian songstress Sass Jordan, who Panaseiko describes as “an absolute Canadian gem.”

In addition to Jordan, the lineup includes local talent such as Charlie Edwards, a rising star from London, Ontario, who recently released a new album. “He’s going to be the next Canadian superstar,” Panaseiko remarked. The festival will also feature One Way Street, the hometown favorites returning from last year’s event, and a local all-girls band with a male drummer called Miss Conduct, who are set to deliver an energetic performance.

Local businesses have rallied to support the festival, with several dozen sponsors contributing to its success. Among them is Thamesford Pizza, whose owner, Matt Scott, emphasized the importance of community engagement. “It’s good for us as a community to get together, enjoy ourselves, and celebrate what living in a small town is all about,” he said.

Ingersoll Rails House of Brews is also participating for the second consecutive year. Brewmaster Craig Rathburn has crafted a special festival beer named Boxcar 73, a cream ale described as “light and refreshing,” ideal for the outdoor setting.

Memorial Park will open to the public at 17:00 on Saturday, with the first band scheduled to take the stage at 18:30. This year’s festival carries special significance for Panaseiko, as it is dedicated to his late father, Nick Panaseiko, who passed away last month. “Tomorrow’s concert is dedicated to my dad, who was at one time Canada’s hottest promo man, and I hope to make him proud,” he shared.

As Ingersoll prepares for a weekend of music and camaraderie, attendees can look forward to an event that not only showcases local talent but also reinforces community bonds. The Good For the Soll Music Festival aims to create lasting memories while honoring those who have contributed to its rich cultural tapestry.
