Apple Set to Revamp iPhone Lineup with New Models in September 2025

Apple is gearing up for the launch of its next-generation smartphones, the iPhone 17 series, expected to be unveiled on September 9, 2025. The new lineup will reportedly include the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, as well as a new “Air” model, which is anticipated to be ultra-thin. The iPhone 17 Plus may be discontinued to accommodate this shift, marking a significant change in Apple’s strategy.
The iPhone 17 lineup has generated much speculation, especially regarding its specifications. While details remain sparse, the base model is likely to feature the new A19 chip, produced using TSMC’s upgraded 3nm process. Although earlier rumors suggested a potential upgrade to a 120Hz display, it appears more plausible that the standard model will support a 90Hz refresh rate, still behind competing devices like the Pixel 9a.
Specifications and Features
The iPhone 17 is expected to maintain 8GB of RAM, a continuation from the previous iPhone 16 model. The Pro versions may see an increase to 12GB of RAM. Apple’s in-house modem, recently introduced with the iPhone 16e, is unlikely to appear in the iPhone 17, potentially limiting its availability and functionality. This model may also face challenges with mmWave 5G support, which could affect its distribution with carriers like Verizon.
The design of the iPhone 17 may evolve towards a camera bar aesthetic similar to the Google Pixel, incorporating dual cameras while retaining the signature Face ID feature. The overall design is expected to remain largely unchanged, with some adjustments such as smaller bezels and a refined dynamic island feature.
In terms of camera capabilities, the iPhone 17 will likely include a 24-megapixel front-facing camera, a significant upgrade from the current 12-megapixel standard. The Pro models are anticipated to feature a triple-camera setup, including a 48MP primary camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a 48MP telephoto camera, with at least one model offering a mechanical aperture.
Connectivity and Pricing
With the iPhone 17, Apple is expected to remove the SIM card tray in more countries, promoting eSIM technology exclusively. The devices are also set to support Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3, enhancing connectivity options.
As for pricing, the base model is rumored to remain at $799, consistent with previous launches. The new iPhone 17 Air is expected to start at $899, while the Pro models are projected to retain their pricing at $999 for the iPhone 17 Pro and $1,199 for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Some analysts speculate a potential price increase across the lineup, but it remains to be seen if this trend will materialize, given that Apple has maintained pricing stability for several years.
With the anticipated announcement just a few weeks away, consumers and tech enthusiasts alike are eagerly awaiting further updates on the iPhone 17 series. As Apple prepares to unveil these new devices, the tech community will be watching closely to see how the company continues to innovate and adapt to current market demands.
