Defensive lineman Mathieu Betts of the B.C. Lions has been recognized for his outstanding performance in the Canadian Football League’s (CFL) Week 12 honour roll. Alongside him, Trevor Harris, the quarterback for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and the offensive line of the Montreal Alouettes also received commendations for their contributions during the week.

Betts achieved a remarkable player grade of 89.4 despite the Lions’ 52-34 defeat to the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday. His stats included five defensive tackles, one of which was a tackle for loss, as well as one sack and his first forced fumble of the season. This performance highlights Betts’ crucial role in the Lions’ defense, showcasing his ability to impact the game significantly even in a loss.

In the same week, Harris completed 15 of 23 passes, achieving a completion rate of 65.2%. He amassed 205 yards and threw two touchdowns in the Roughriders’ 32-15 loss to the Calgary Stampeders. His performance earned him a grade of 85, reflecting a solid outing even in challenging circumstances.

The honour roll also acknowledged the collective effort of the Alouettes’ offensive line, which received a unit grade of 68.6. Notable individual performances came from Nick Callender with a score of 74.5, Cyrille Hogan-Saindon at 71.5, and Donald Ventrelli with 67.6. This line particularly stood out in their game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, managing to prevent any sacks during their 26-13 defeat.

The CFL honour roll is compiled based on performance metrics gathered by Pro Football Focus, a reputable American sports analytics company. This recognition not only highlights individual talents but also underscores the importance of teamwork in achieving success on the field. Players and teams are evaluated across nine positions, reflecting their contributions to their respective games.

As Week 12 wraps up, the performances of Betts, Harris, and the Alouettes’ offensive line offer a glimpse into the competitive nature of the CFL, where individual excellence can shine even in the face of adversity.
