Suspect Arrested in Mississauga Kidnapping Attempt; 2 Still Wanted

URGENT UPDATE: One suspect has been arrested while two others remain at large following a disturbing attempted kidnapping of two women in Mississauga on June 24. The incident occurred around 10:20 p.m. when the women were approached by three masked men in the area of Britannia Road West and Queen Street South.

According to Peel Regional Police, the suspects attempted to lure the victims into a light-coloured Audi SUV. Reports indicate that one suspect may have been armed with a gun and another with a knife. Fortunately, a passerby intervened, causing the suspects to flee westbound in the vehicle. Thankfully, the victims did not sustain any physical injuries.

Following a thorough investigation, 26-year-old Waleed Khan from Etobicoke was arrested and now faces an astonishing 33 charges including kidnapping, firearms offenses, and auto theft. Police also seized two loaded, prohibited firearms during a search of Khan’s residence.

At the time of his arrest, Khan was on probation for prior violent offenses, making him prohibited from possessing firearms. He has since been released with an ankle monitor, though it is crucial to note that these charges have not yet been tested in court.

Authorities have issued descriptions for the two remaining suspects, identifying them as Middle Eastern males in their late teens to mid-twenties, of medium build. The police strongly advise the public to avoid approaching these individuals and to call 911 immediately if spotted.

The Audi linked to this alarming incident has not yet been recovered. Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding the identity and whereabouts of the remaining suspects to contact the 11 Division Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 1133.
