The City of Aurora is set to host its annual Fiestas Patrias celebration on September 6 and 7, 2025, marking the return of this vibrant event after a hiatus since 2019. The festivities will kick off with a day-long celebration at Wilder Park, located at 350 N. River Street, on Saturday, September 6, from noon to 21:00. This year’s event promises an exciting lineup, including performances from seven musical acts, most notably the acclaimed group Los Sementales De Nuevo Leon, alongside Banda Portillos and Jose Luis Duval.

Food enthusiasts can look forward to a diverse array of offerings from local vendors, with traditional dishes that reflect the rich cultural heritage celebrated during Fiestas Patrias. A highlight of the day will be the ceremonial El Grito de Independencia, which commemorates Mexico’s independence.

On Sunday, September 7, the festivities will continue with the return of the Fiestas Patrias Parade, which will take place in downtown Aurora. The parade is scheduled to begin at 11:00 on the corner of Broadway and Benton. This year, the honor of Grand Marshal has been awarded to Saúl Olivas, a respected member of the East Aurora School District Board and a longstanding community advocate, following a public nomination process.

For those interested in attending, more information regarding the complete schedule of events is available on the official City of Aurora website at www.aurora.il.us/FiestasPatrias. This year’s Fiestas Patrias promises to be a vibrant celebration of culture, community, and heritage, inviting residents and visitors alike to partake in the festivities.
