Wyatt Novotny Takes Second at Riverdale Invite, Storm Finishes Fourth

UPDATE: Bureau Valley senior Wyatt Novotny has just finished strong at the Riverdale Wayne Brinkmeier Invitational, shooting a remarkable 1-under-par 70. This achievement secured him a tie for second place at the tournament held on September 22, 2023, at the Byron Hills Golf Course.

Novotny’s performance was pivotal in leading the Storm to a solid fourth-place finish, with a total of 323 strokes. The host team, the Rams, emerged victorious with 300 strokes, followed closely by Fulton at 307 and Geneseo at 313.

In a strong showing for Bureau Valley, Chase Stier also made headlines, tying for eighth place with a score of 76. Meanwhile, Ty Carls led the Bruins, finishing 15th with a score of 79. Additional scores for the Storm included Atticus Middleton with 88 and Logan Philhower with 89.

In another competitive arena, Gemma Moore of Bureau Valley stood out in cross-country, finishing 16th at the IVC Invitational with a time of 21:58, the best performance in the area. Fellow runners Summer Hamilton and Ella Wilt also contributed, placing 24th and 25th respectively.

In football news, the Riverdale Trojans dominated with a decisive 20-0 victory over Mendota, marking a challenging debut for Mendota’s coach Jim Eustice in the Three Rivers Conference crossover.
