Regina’s Labour Day Weekend Packed with Events, Football Action!
UPDATE: Regina is buzzing with excitement as the Labour Day long weekend kicks off, featuring a packed schedule of events that promises fun for everyone. From thrilling football action to vibrant food festivals, the Queen City is the place to be this weekend!
The highly anticipated Labour Day Classic will see the Saskatchewan Roughriders take on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in a sold-out showdown at Mosaic Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 31, at 5 p.m. Football fans are gearing up for an electric atmosphere as they support their team in this annual tradition.
Before the big game, fans can join the Rider Fan Day on Saturday, Aug. 30, starting at 10 a.m. at Mosaic Stadium. Attendees will have the chance to meet players, enjoy family activities, and attend a fitness class led by GoodLife Fitness later in the day. With autographs and appearances from the Rider cheer team and mascots, this event is a must for fans of all ages.
Meanwhile, the Summer’s End Outdoor Market is set to transform 1377 Hamilton St. into a family-friendly shopping destination. Running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, this market will showcase local artisans, food vendors, and dance workshops, promising a delightful experience for all.
Food lovers won’t want to miss the Taste of the Philippines festival, taking place from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and continuing into Sunday. This vibrant event will offer authentic Filipino cuisine, live music, cultural performances, and a colorful parade. Admission is free, making it an ideal outing for families and foodies alike.
For sports enthusiasts, the Sask. Cup BMX Grands and Championships will be held at 13th Ave BMX Club from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. With races starting at 11 a.m., competitors of all ages, from five to over fifty, will showcase their skills. The event is free to attend and includes food vendors and raffle prizes.
Families can celebrate summer reading success at the Level Up Celebration at the Regina Public Library’s Sherwood Village Branch from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Kids can enjoy interactive storytime, balloon creations, and hands-on art activities, making it a perfect way to wrap up the summer.
Additionally, the inaugural Regina Reggae Festival will take place in Victoria Park on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.. Attendees can expect an exciting lineup of reggae music, local food vendors, and cultural celebrations.
