North Shore Kids Fest Returns with Expanded Activities for Kids

URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated North Shore Kids Fest is set to return to The Shipyards on September 14, from noon to 6 p.m. This year’s festival promises an even bigger lineup of performances and activities for children aged 14 and under, making it a must-attend event for families in the community.

Festival co-founders Anna Boltenko and Anna Sharonova are expanding the festival footprint to include two performance stages and a new “entrepreneur zone” for kids to showcase their talents. “We realized we can do something for our kids,” Boltenko stated, emphasizing the festival’s goal to provide a dedicated space just for children.

This year’s festival will feature opportunities for kids to perform in singing, dancing, and showcasing sports skills, alongside activities like slime making and face painting. “We have so many talented kids on the North Shore,” Sharonova noted. “This festival is a celebration of those gifts and the many paths open to them.”

In addition to performances, educational institutions and community favorites like Grouse Mountain will be present to share information on their programs dedicated to children’s growth and learning. Last year, the event saw over 200 performers take the stage, with hundreds of attendees. This year, organizers expect an even larger turnout as families flock to support young talent.

The festival was inspired by a conversation Sharonova had with her daughter, who questioned the lack of a dedicated day for kids. “This was definitely that push we needed to do something about that,” she recalled.

Expect an engaging atmosphere where young talents can inspire one another, creating a sense of community and celebration. “We hope families leave with a sense of inspiration about the bright future ahead—one filled with opportunities and possibilities,” Sharonova added.
