New Concert Series Launches Fundraising in Prince Albert

URGENT UPDATE: A new community-focused concert series, Irregular Acts of Kindness, is set to kick off on September 28 at the Prince Albert Heritage Seniors Centre. This initiative combines live music with grassroots fundraising, aiming to support vital local causes.
Organized by local musicians in collaboration with Threadbare Productions, this all-ages event will feature a unique blend of musical acts while raising funds for community initiatives. The first concert will benefit Two Miles for Mary, a longstanding fundraiser for the Community Services Centre, which provides essential transportation for seniors.
Organizer Clay Cottingham emphasized the spirit of community support behind the event. “This is about what prairie people do: show up for one another,” he stated. The series will occur every fourth Sunday, creating a platform for local talent while addressing important social issues.
Admission to the concert series will be donation-based, ensuring accessibility for all attendees. Cottingham explained that while the lineup for the opening show is still in the works, the focus will be on showcasing local original music across various genres. “We want to promote both the charities and the local bands,” he said.
The Irregular Acts of Kindness series aims to foster community engagement through music. Cottingham expressed excitement about future fundraisers, including plans for events supporting The Nest, a drop-in center for individuals dealing with long-term mental health challenges. “It’s great to see people fundraising for that because it’s a service that a lot of people in the city rely on,” he remarked.
This innovative concert series transforms the traditional fundraising model by encouraging community involvement at every level. Volunteers are welcomed for setup, helping to choose causes, and donating prizes. Cottingham hopes to engage the community further through online polls to determine future fundraising focuses.
As excitement builds for the inaugural event, local residents are encouraged to participate in this unique initiative that promises to uplift both the arts and essential community services. For more information, contact Threadbare Productions at [email protected].
Don’t miss out on this chance to support local causes while enjoying live music. Mark your calendars for September 28 and join your neighbors in making a difference!
