HUNTER Discusses Empowerment in New Single “Good Girl”
Singer-songwriter HUNTER recently shared insights into her new single “Good Girl,” emphasizing themes of empowerment and solidarity among women. The song aims to transform the competitive energy often felt among women into a force for positivity, celebrating beauty and success in one another.
In her discussion, HUNTER explained the inspiration behind the song. “I’ve seen how easy it is for women to feel small or competitive around each other, and I’ve felt it myself,” she said. “I wanted to write a song that shifts that energy into something positive.” This commitment to uplifting others reflects her broader artistic vision.
Artistry and the Digital Landscape
When asked about her songwriting process, HUNTER described how her life experiences shape her music. “Life itself. The highs, the heartbreaks, the quiet moments, the people I love — all of it ends up in my songs,” she noted. For her upcoming EP, set for release in September 2023, she focused on songs that resonate with authenticity. “If I could sing them live and feel that connection with the crowd, I knew they belonged on the record.”
Emerging artists often face unique challenges, and HUNTER offered advice for those starting their careers. “Trust yourself. Don’t wait until you feel ‘ready’ — none of us ever do,” she said. “Put your art out there and let it grow with you.”
Navigating the digital age presents both opportunities and challenges for musicians. “Technology gives us the chance to share music with the world instantly, which is amazing, but it can also be overwhelming,” HUNTER acknowledged. She emphasized the importance of remaining authentic rather than solely pursuing trends dictated by algorithms.
Looking Ahead
As she plans for the future, HUNTER aims to connect with audiences through her music and live performances. “My biggest goal is longevity — to create work that still means something years from now,” she stated.
In reflecting on potential collaborations, HUNTER expressed admiration for legendary figures such as Aretha Franklin and Quincy Jones. “Aretha Franklin was the queen, and her soul changed music forever,” she remarked. “Quincy Jones has shaped some of the greatest songs of all time.” She also mentioned Sabrina Carpenter, whom she believes would bring a fun dynamic to a collaborative project.
Her upcoming EP promises to be deeply personal, touching on themes of empowerment, heartbreak, and joy. “Every song comes from a real place,” she said. “My hope is that people feel a little less alone when they hear it — like the songs are theirs too.”
“Good Girl” is currently available on Spotify, and HUNTER looks forward to sharing her music with fans as she embarks on her tour, performing these songs live for the first time.
