Oswego Co-Op Girls Golf Sets Nine-Hole Record with 150

The Oswego Co-Op girls golf team achieved a remarkable feat on Tuesday by shooting a record-breaking nine-hole score of 150 during a match. This impressive performance was led by Alli Wiertel, who delivered an outstanding round of 32, showcasing her skills on the course.

Alongside Wiertel, teammates Giselle Resendez contributed significantly with a score of 36, while both Annabelle Williams and Mallory Paustenbach finished strong with rounds of 41 each. Their combined efforts not only secured victory but also set a new benchmark for the team.

In a competitive landscape, the Oswego Co-Op team outperformed Plainfield East, which recorded a score of 164, and Yorkville, which finished with a score of 197. For Yorkville, Caitlin Mattsey had a standout performance, scoring 46, while Elaina Newman followed closely with a score of 48.

Strong Performances in Boys Golf

The boys golf teams also showcased their talent on the same day. Yorkville emerged victorious against Plainfield Central with a score of 152 to 171. Graham Martinson led the way for Yorkville with an impressive one-under-par score of 35, supported by Carter Humbers who shot a 37. Other notable performances included Noah Peterson, Ian Saar, and Robert Hren, each scoring 40.

In another match, Sandwich defeated Johnsburg and Harvard with a collective score of 172 to 188 and 192 respectively. Sandwich’s Kai Kern earned medalist honors with a score of 39, while Nolan Oros contributed with a score of 40. Finley Taxis and Kaden Clevenger rounded out the scoring with 45 and 48 respectively.

Dominance in Girls Tennis

In girls tennis, Yorkville delivered a commanding performance against Joliet, winning 7-0. The singles matches saw Charlotte Chaloka, Analiese Garretson, and Makayla Mercado all secure victories in straight sets. The doubles teams also excelled, with Audry Converse and Sarah Baise, Callie Ferko and Alana Hogan, as well as Christy Silva and Niah Kallan, winning their matches decisively. Macie Jones and Sofia Perez completed the clean sweep for Yorkville, demonstrating their team’s strength across the board.

The achievements across these matches highlight the talent and determination present in the Oswego Co-Op and Yorkville teams, marking a successful day in local sports. As the season progresses, the focus will remain on maintaining this momentum and striving for further excellence.
