The Smoky River Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) has announced that its next Family Dance will take place on September 12, 2023, at a new venue, the Smoky River Community Hall. FCSS Director Crystal Tremblay expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event, highlighting the opportunity for community members to connect with neighbors and meet new people.

Tremblay emphasized the aim of the new location in attracting more families and individuals to the event. “We want the new location to create a different atmosphere and bring in new bands to expand the varieties of music that will be offered,” she stated. The change in venue is intended to enhance the overall experience for attendees, making it a welcoming space for everyone.

Doors will open at 19:00, and attendees can expect a vibrant environment filled with local music. All proceeds from the event will be reinvested into the community hall, reinforcing the commitment to local initiatives. “Entrance to the dance will be by donation,” explained Tremblay, who is hopeful for strong community support this month. Snacks will also be provided for those attending.

This Family Dance marks the beginning of a series of events planned for the coming months. The next dances are scheduled for October 10 and November 14, with additional dances planned for every second Friday of each month thereafter. Tremblay encourages everyone to keep an eye on the Smoky River FCSS Facebook page for updates and announcements.

For those unable to attend the upcoming event, there will be more opportunities to participate in future dances. Community members interested in more details can contact the FCSS office at 780-837-2220. This event promises to be a fantastic opportunity for socializing, enjoying local music, and fostering community spirit in a family-friendly setting.
