This recognition honors the contributions of women in the community, highlighting their professional achievements and commitment to empowering others. Recipients of the awards will be revealed during a special reception scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on October 16, 2025, at the Egyptian Theatre, located at 135 N. Second St., DeKalb.

Among the finalists for the Athena Award are Devyn Grzywa, Rylie Loucks-Kues, Linda Sherman, and Donna Larson, Ed.D. These individuals have demonstrated exceptional leadership and community service, embodying the spirit of the Athena Award, which recognizes women who serve as role models, assist others in reaching their potential, and achieve significant professional milestones.

The Women of Accomplishment Award will honor Kathy Dombek and Donna Willrett, both of whom have met the Athena criteria but are retired or no longer active in the workforce within DeKalb County. This award serves to recognize the lasting impact these individuals have made in their careers and the community.

Tickets for the awards reception are priced at $18 until October 10, after which the price will increase to $25 on October 11. Tickets can be purchased online at dekalb.org or directly at the theatre on the day of the event.

The Athena Award not only celebrates individual achievements but also aims to inspire future generations of women to pursue their goals and contribute positively to their communities.
