The Kingston School of Art (KSOA) has found a new location after months of uncertainty regarding its previous site at the corner of Princess Street and Victoria Street. The community arts organization is set to relocate to Providence Village, located at 1200 Princess St., later this month. This transition allows KSOA to join several other organizations, including Girls Inc. Limestone, the H’art Centre, and the Independent Living Centre Kingston.

The new facility promises improved accessibility for students and artists, with classrooms designed to enhance the learning experience. KSOA will also benefit from dedicated space for its printmaking presses, a key component of its artistic offerings. This move opens the door for greater collaboration with other non-profit organizations in the area, enhancing the community arts landscape.

Rob Hosier, a board member of KSOA, expressed optimism about the relocation. “It’s just that perfect timing that you never get in working with non-profit organizations,” he stated. “They came to us in the purest sense of community.”

The organization plans to seamlessly transition into its fall programming once the move is completed, aiming to foster even greater community engagement. KSOA is actively inviting volunteers to contribute to this new chapter, emphasizing the importance of community participation in its mission.

As KSOA prepares for this significant change, stakeholders look forward to the enhanced opportunities for artistic expression and community involvement that the new location promises. The relocation to Providence Village is a pivotal moment for KSOA, reflecting its commitment to serving the Kingston community and enriching the local arts scene.
