Transit Routes Disrupted at Georgian College Amid Ongoing Strike

UPDATE: Transit routes are undergoing significant changes at Georgian College as support staff strike action continues. Students and staff should prepare for disruptions in bus and transit services effective immediately.

Barrie Transit has announced that regular bus stops at the college, specifically stops 327, 328, 330, 331, and 335, are now closed. Riders are instructed to use temporary stops along Georgian Drive and Duckworth. However, direct connections between the college and the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) will remain operational via Routes 8, 100, 101, and 400. Buses will now pick up and drop off on the north and south sides of Georgian Drive, just east of Governors Drive.

The Simcoe County LINX stop 110 at the Barrie campus is also temporarily closed. Riders are advised to utilize the alternate stop at RVH to ensure continued access to transit services.

Changes are not limited to Barrie. At the Midland campus, LINX stop 600 is shut down, with an alternative stop established at 990 Jones Road. Similarly, in Orillia, stop 390 at the campus entrance is closed, redirecting riders to Memorial Avenue.

For those with accessibility needs, the City of Barrie’s Specialized Transit service remains operational. Registered users can schedule rides by calling 705-792-5033.

Georgian College officials urge all students and staff to check their route maps thoroughly before traveling and to anticipate longer travel times as the strike remains ongoing.
