BREAKING NEWS: The lone survivor of a gruesome triple stabbing in East Vancouver has tragically died in the hospital. Jinfeng Guan, aged 50, succumbed to her injuries on Thursday, September 14, 2023, after being hospitalized since the incident on September 5.

Vancouver Police confirmed Guan’s death, which escalates the incident to a triple homicide, following the earlier deaths of Jianghui Deng, 55, and Chunxiu Yin, 54. The stabbing occurred around 2 p.m. in an apartment building located near Vanness Avenue and Spencer Street in the Joyce-Collingwood area.

Officers arrived at the scene to find Guan with life-threatening injuries, while two deceased individuals were discovered shortly after. Authorities also found a man with non-life-threatening injuries nearby, who has since been identified as a suspect. Viet Quy John Ly, 54, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection to the deaths of Deng and Yin.

In light of Guan’s death, police have notified Crown counsel and are preparing to submit evidence for potential additional charges against Ly, who remains in custody. The community is deeply affected by these events, as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attacks.
