Joliet Artists Set to Dazzle at Park Forest Art Fair This Weekend
UPDATE: The highly anticipated Park Forest Art Fair, now in its 69th year, is set to ignite the Village Green in Park Forest this weekend, on September 20 and 21, 2023. Four talented artists from the Joliet area, including Ellen Grenier Bevill of Morris, Jan Podbielski of Peotone, and Joliet’s own Jay Anderson and Carole St. Clair, will showcase their work at this beloved annual event.
The fair, organized by the Tall Grass Arts Association, runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, promising an exciting array of art, music, and activities for all ages. Janet Muchnik, chairwoman of the art fair, expressed enthusiasm for this year’s lineup, stating, “This event always attracts some new artists and many who have exhibited continuously for nearly four decades.”
Attendees can expect a vibrant mix of photography, jewelry, paintings, woodturning, and hand-blown glass. The fair also features a dedicated Kids’ Art Alley where children can engage in hands-on arts and crafts activities, ensuring a delightful experience for families.
In addition to the art displays, live performances will enhance the atmosphere. On September 20, the Rowgers Duo will perform from noon to 1:15 p.m., followed by Blend Acoustic from 1:45 to 3 p.m.. The next day, Kobie Knight, a vibraphonist, will take the stage from noon to 1:15 p.m., and saxophonist Maine Lee will perform from 2 to 3:15 p.m.
Food lovers will rejoice with various on-site food vendors, along with numerous establishments nearby, making it easy to enjoy a meal while soaking in the artistic ambiance. The Tall Grass Arts Association Gallery, located at 367 Artists Walk in downtown Park Forest, will also be open, featuring a summer exhibit of gallery artists and the special exhibit titled “The Whole Kit And Kaboodle.”
This year’s fair is not just about art; it’s a celebration of community and creativity, drawing visitors from across the region. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience one of the Chicagoland area’s oldest juried art fairs, renowned for its quality and diversity.
