Plainfield’s Homecoming Parade Celebrates 100 Years of Literature
UPDATE: The Plainfield community is buzzing with excitement following the successful annual homecoming parade held on September 30, 2023. This year’s theme, “Literary Legends – Celebrating Famous Characters from the Last 100 Years,” pays tribute to the centennial celebration of the Plainfield Area Public Library.
Residents filled the streets of Plainfield as floats and participants showcased their creativity, bringing to life beloved characters from literature. The event attracted hundreds of attendees who lined the route, celebrating both the community spirit and the rich history of storytelling.
The parade kicked off at 10:00 AM, featuring local schools, clubs, and organizations that highlighted their favorite literary figures. From classic characters like Huckleberry Finn to modern icons such as Harry Potter, the creative displays captivated audiences of all ages.
