Will County Launches Urgent Sign-Ups for Holiday Food Baskets
BREAKING: The Will County Center for Community Concerns has just announced the launch of sign-ups for holiday food baskets, targeting 125 income-eligible families with children aged 16 and younger. This urgent initiative aims to provide essential support to local families during the holiday season.
Starting Monday, November 6, 2023, through Friday, November 10, 2023, families can apply in person at the Center for Community Concerns’ office. This program is funded by a Community Service Block Grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, emphasizing the commitment to assist those in need within the community.
Each holiday food basket will not only include a complete meal for the festive season but also essential items for children, including a new coat, hat, and gloves or mittens. Additionally, gifts for each child will be provided, ensuring that every family can enjoy a joyous holiday celebration.
The immediate relevance of this initiative cannot be overstated. With rising costs and economic pressures, many families are facing food insecurity and struggle to provide adequate holiday meals and gifts for their children. This program offers a lifeline to those in need, contributing to both physical nourishment and emotional well-being during a time that should be filled with joy.
For more information or to check eligibility, families can contact the Center for Community Concerns at 815-722-0722. Act quickly—spaces are limited, and demand is expected to be high.
This initiative underscores the importance of community support during challenging times and highlights the ongoing efforts to uplift families in need. As the holiday season approaches, every act of kindness counts. Stay tuned for more updates on this critical program as it develops.
