The Northern Sunrise County Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is set to open registration for its annual Christmas Gift Card Program on October 6. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to families and individuals in need during the holiday season, allowing them to celebrate without the burden of financial strain.

According to Amber Houle, Director of Community Services, the program is particularly crucial this year due to the rising costs of food and utilities. “The Christmas Gift Card Program provides families and individuals in need with financial support during the holidays,” Houle stated. “With the rising cost of living, more families are feeling the pinch. This program allows them to receive extra cash to enjoy a special holiday without adding to their debt.”

Anonymous Assistance for Those in Need

The Christmas Gift Card Program emphasizes privacy; recipients receive their cards anonymously, delivered by mail along with a Christmas card. Donations can be made in the form of both gift cards and cash, with a preference for gift cards in increments of $25 to facilitate distribution.

Houle explained, “The amount of money dispersed to individuals and families depends on how many donations are received. It is easier to provide more cards at a lesser value than to separate a larger gift card fairly among recipients.” Registration for this program will remain open until December 5, with gift cards scheduled for distribution in the third week of December, ensuring support during the holiday celebrations.

In addition to donations, the program also allows for nominations of individuals or families who may require assistance. “With the donations we receive, we purchase gift cards from Co-op so that individuals can choose to buy groceries or fuel for their vehicles,” Houle added.

How to Get Involved

Individuals who wish to contribute to this initiative or those who need help are encouraged to reach out. Houle can be contacted at (780) 625-3287 or via email at [email protected]. This program is a vital resource for many in the Nampa area, and contributions can significantly impact the community.

As the holiday season approaches, the FCSS is making a concerted effort to ensure that no one in their community is left behind, highlighting the importance of support and compassion during challenging financial times.
