URGENT UPDATE: The Windsor-Essex Community Housing Corporation is actively seeking new public applications for its board, as it aims to enhance its professional skill set. This initiative, approved by the City Council and set to take effect on January 1, 2026, is critical to addressing the community’s evolving housing needs.

Mayor Drew Dilkens stated, “Our goal is to build a Board that is not only diverse but also highly professional and skilled.” This urgent call comes as the City of Windsor, acting as the Sole Shareholder of WECHC, commits to fostering a strong governance structure with clear objectives to fulfill the Board’s mission.

The board is particularly interested in recruiting volunteer members with backgrounds in law and accounting. These skills are essential in effectively managing the community’s housing challenges. Interested candidates must submit their applications by October 24, 2025.

Applications can be submitted online or via printed forms available at the City Clerk’s Office, located at Suite 530, 350 City Hall Square West. For more information, potential applicants can reach out to City Clerk & Licence Commissioner Steve Vlachodimos at [email protected] or by calling 311.

This initiative not only aims to improve the board’s effectiveness but also reflects a broader commitment to enhancing community services in Windsor-Essex. As housing issues continue to impact residents, this move is both timely and necessary.
