Spallumcheen Farm Theatre Unveils Thrilling Halloween Events

Caravan Farm Theatre in Spallumcheen, British Columbia, is set to celebrate the autumn season with a trio of engaging Halloween events. From immersive horror experiences to festive family outings, the theatre aims to provide entertainment for all ages throughout October.
Estelle Shook, the artistic director at Caravan, emphasized the importance of autumn as a time for reflection and celebration. “Fall is such an opportunity to go into the darkness, to reflect on the eternal processes of loss and death that are part of the natural cycle of the seasons,” Shook noted. The theatre is committed to crafting experiences that appeal to diverse interests, whether through adrenaline-pumping encounters, playful costume festivities, or a cozy atmosphere with pumpkin spice treats.
Immersive Experiences and Family Fun
One of the highlights is the immersive audio walk titled Labyrinth, which runs from October 15 to 30, 2023. This “fear-based, immersive horror experience” combines performers, including members of the Kinshira circus group, and binaural sounds transmitted through headphones. Participants will navigate through the woods, following a thread symbolic of both lifeline and terror, creating a unique blend of isolation and suspense. Shook mentioned that the transformation of the natural setting into a fantastical realm adds to the immersive experience.
Returning after a sold-out performance last year, the Horse-drawn Halloween event will take place on October 19, 2023. Families can enjoy a horse-drawn hayride leading to a haunted house, where children can trick or treat in a safe environment. “It’s a great way for little kids and their parents to celebrate the spooky season and enjoy a beautiful outdoor experience,” Shook said.
A Night of Dance and Creativity
For those keen on dressing up and celebrating with music, the 20th Walk of Terror (WOT) Spectacular will occur on October 25, 2023. This all-ages party promises an exciting atmosphere, featuring up to 100 performers, fire spinners from Kinshira, live music from two bands, and a variety of food trucks. The event will also include a cash costume contest, judged this year by Julie Oakes and Molly March, who will carry on the tradition from previous celebrity judges.
Described as a “howl at the moon hootenanny,” the Walk of Terror has become a staple for many, attracting nearly 1,000 costumed guests annually. Shook encouraged attendees to explore all three events, catering to varied preferences: “If you want to be thrilled, come to Labyrinth. If you want to dance and express your creativity, come to the Walk of Terror. If you want to come to all three, you can do that too. Just get outdoors and have some fun.”
Tickets for these Halloween experiences are available for purchase by calling 1-866-546-8533. Caravan Farm Theatre invites everyone to join in the festivities and celebrate the beauty of October in the Okanagan.
