Dixon Dominates Stillman Valley 55-0 with Record Shutout

UPDATE: The Dixon Dukes delivered a stunning performance Friday night, crushing the Stillman Valley Cardinals 55-0 during Homecoming at A.C. Bowers Field. Senior running back Landon Knigge made his mother’s birthday unforgettable, rushing for 205 yards and scoring four touchdowns in a game that showcased the Dukes’ dominance.
Knigge’s electrifying night included a crucial 44-yard run that set up a touchdown for teammate Owen Belzer, extending the lead to 49-0. “Jagger [Kemp] came into the huddle and said, ‘Last play for us, it’s a give no matter what,’” Knigge recounted. “I said, ‘All right, we’re running it, let’s go!’”
The Dukes’ offense was relentless, finishing with 288 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Quarterback Jagger Kemp completed 11 of 13 passes for 120 yards, including a spectacular 23-yard touchdown pass to Jake Zepezauer in the closing seconds of the first half. Kemp also contributed a 14-yard rushing touchdown, showcasing a well-rounded offensive attack.
Dixon’s defense was equally impressive, achieving its fourth consecutive shutout. The Dukes (5-1, 5-1 Big Northern) have only allowed one touchdown in their last five games, a testament to their defensive prowess. Linebacker Brady Lawrence emphasized the team’s commitment to maintaining a zero on the scoreboard, stating, “Four straight shutouts, it hasn’t happened since the 1950s, and that’s huge for us.”
The Cardinals struggled offensively, recording just 39 yards on 30 rushing attempts and managing only two first downs throughout the game. Their lone completed pass went for just 10 yards, further highlighting the Dukes’ defensive capabilities.
Dixon scored on its first seven possessions, with key contributions from players like Brenden Kastner and Blaine Eberhardt, who set up touchdowns with crucial fumble recoveries. Knigge’s touchdown runs of 18, 31, 4, and 21 yards left the Cardinals reeling, while Dylan Conderman capped the scoring with a 35-yard sprint on the Dukes’ ninth possession.
As the season progresses, Dixon’s balanced attack and formidable defense are proving to be a winning combination. “We want to set the tone, we want to hit them, and then we want to go out on offense and score,” Kemp said, reflecting on the team’s strategy.
This dominant victory positions the Dukes as a serious contender in the league, and fans are eager to see if they can maintain this momentum as they head into the next game. The performance not only solidifies their record but also ignites excitement for what lies ahead in this thrilling football season.
Stay tuned for more updates as Dixon continues its quest for victory on the field!
