Colwood’s Sonja Bidese Named 2025 Fitness Professional of the Year
Sonja Bidese, a dedicated fitness professional from Colwood, has achieved a significant milestone by being awarded the title of 2025 Fitness Professional of the Year by the BC Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA). This recognition underscores her extensive contributions to the fitness community over the past three decades.
As the owner of Success Fitness in Colwood, Bidese has made a remarkable impact through her passionate teaching and inclusive coaching. Her commitment to empowering individuals and fostering a love for fitness has inspired thousands, cementing her status as a leader in the field. The award was presented during the BCRPA’s annual fitness conference, held on October 5, 2023, in New Westminster.
Celebrating Excellence in Fitness Leadership
The award highlights Bidese’s role as a registered fitness professional and trainer of fitness leaders. Katie Fenn, CEO of BCRPA, remarked, “Sonja is an exemplary fitness leader who embodies the very best of our profession. Currently, there are approximately 2,700 BCRPA-registered fitness leaders active in communities across British Columbia. These professionals deliver fitness programs in various settings, including recreation centres, gyms, pools, health clubs, and outdoor venues. Bidese’s recognition as Fitness Professional of the Year not only acknowledges her individual achievements but also highlights the collective impact of fitness leaders working diligently to enhance community health.
