Sault Community Theatre Awards Honor Local Heroes and Artists
UPDATE: The Sault Community Theatre Centre (SCTC) has just honored local volunteers and artists at the annual Friends of the Theatre Awards held on September 30, 2025. This prestigious event recognizes outstanding contributions to the vibrant theatre community in Sault Ste. Marie, celebrating those who have made a significant impact on the performing arts.
The awards ceremony, which took place at the SCTC, highlighted exceptional individuals and organizations. Among the esteemed recipients are Larry Whalen and Valerie Wilson, who received the award for Outstanding Volunteer Service for their tireless dedication to the theatre. Their commitment exemplifies the spirit of community support that is essential for the arts to thrive.
Additionally, Rony DalCin and Lucas Beaver were recognized for Excellence in Artistic Contribution. These artists have played a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of productions and the overall creative landscape of the theatre scene.
The Community Partnership Award was awarded to Pharmasave East End and Pharmasave West End for their substantial support of the SCTC and local theatre initiatives. Their involvement underscores the importance of collaboration between businesses and the arts, fostering a dynamic cultural environment.
Christopher Rous, Chair of the SCTC Board of Directors, expressed gratitude towards the awardees, stating,
