UPDATE: Newark High School’s sophomore volleyball sensation, Rylie Carlson, has been crowned Athlete of the Week following her outstanding performances in recent matches. Just announced, Carlson clinched this honor after delivering a remarkable total of 19 kills in victories over Rosary and Serena.

This selection comes during a pivotal moment in the season, highlighting Carlson’s crucial role in her team’s success. In her match against Rosary, she achieved nine kills, followed by 10 kills against Serena, solidifying her reputation as a key player on the court.

In an exclusive interview with Sports Editor Joshua Welge, Carlson shared insights into the teamwork that has propelled her squad to success. “I think that we work really well together on the court,” Carlson stated. “Our team clicked really fast at the beginning of the year, and we understand each other well.”
