Agriculture Community Rallies for AITC-SK’s Third Annual Appeal
Agriculture in the Classroom Saskatchewan (AITC-SK) has launched its third annual fundraising campaign, encouraging the agricultural community to contribute to its mission of enhancing agricultural education for students across the province. Through this initiative, known as Acres for Education, donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a partnership with JGL Livestock, effectively doubling the impact of each contribution.
The funds raised are vital for AITC-SK’s programs, which offer hands-on agricultural experiences to students at no cost to teachers. These initiatives aim to inspire a deeper understanding of food production, foster confidence in modern farming practices, and highlight the significant opportunities within Saskatchewan’s agricultural sector. Since the campaign began in 2023, it has successfully generated over $110,000, directly benefiting thousands of students and underscoring the collective commitment of farmers, ranchers, and community supporters to invest in future generations.
Sara Shymko, Executive Director of AITC-SK, emphasized the importance of each donation. “Every dollar donated is a direct investment in the province’s future. We know agriculture education matters in building informed consumers — and with JGL matching every gift, this is the moment for our community to come together and make a real impact,” she stated.
The efforts of JGL Livestock extend beyond financial support. Melissa MacLean, Director of Marketing & Philanthropy at JGL, expressed the company’s belief in the significance of fostering agricultural education. “By investing in education and supporting organizations like AITC-SK, we’re excited to help students connect with agriculture and build a deeper understanding and appreciation of the food we all rely on every day, and those who grow and produce it,” MacLean remarked.
The Acres for Education campaign will continue through December 31, 2023, with JGL committing to match donations up to $25,000. Contributions can be made online by visiting aitc.sk.ca/acresforeducation. This initiative not only strengthens agricultural education but also reinforces the essential role of agriculture in Saskatchewan’s economy and community fabric.
Through collaborative support and generosity, the agricultural community is demonstrating its commitment to nurturing informed and engaged future leaders in the industry.
