Streator Public Library Unveils Exciting Events for Fall
The Streator Public Library, located at 130 S. Park St., has announced a vibrant lineup of programs and events scheduled for October and November 2023. The library aims to engage the community with a variety of activities that cater to all ages, from children to adults.
Upcoming Events Overview
Among the highlights is the Skulls Scavenger Hunt, running from October 27 through November 1. Participants will search the library for hidden themed items, making it an interactive way for families to explore the space.
Another engaging activity is the Lego Club, which will also take place from October 27 to November 1. This club invites children aged newborn to five to play with Legos, encouraging creativity and teamwork. It is essential that young attendees are accompanied by a parent or guardian.
On October 28, the library will host The Scribble Studio from 4 to 5 p.m. This session focuses on creative project-making and is designed to be sensory-friendly, allowing adults to participate and create projects to take home.
Artistic and Thematic Activities
The Beginners Painting Academy will occur on the same day from 4 to 5 p.m., providing a platform for young children to learn acrylic and watercolor techniques. Following this, Skeletons Storytime will take place from 5 to 5:30 p.m., where children can enjoy stories told by ‘skeletons’, enhancing the Halloween atmosphere.
On October 29, attendees can engage in Game Time from 3 to 4 p.m., featuring board games, puzzles, and video games. For older participants, the library will present Let’s Talk: True Crime from 6 to 7 p.m., offering a space for teens and adults to listen to and discuss intriguing true crime stories.
The Mother Goose Club is scheduled for October 30 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. This program fosters basic social skills through interactive nursery rhymes, tailored for younger children. Following this, there will be an Afternoon Watercolor Painting event from 3 to 4 p.m., where participants can create beautiful watercolor art during a guided session.
Finally, on October 30 from 4 to 5 p.m., teens can participate in the Discovery Lab, which will feature hands-on STEM activities designed to ignite curiosity and innovation.
The library will host a special event, Haunted Mansion: New Orleans, in its basement on October 31 from 5 to 8 p.m. and on November 1 from 2 to 5 p.m. This New Orleans-themed haunted mansion promises to be an exciting exploration for participants, with parental guidance encouraged for younger visitors. The event is also wheelchair accessible, ensuring inclusivity for all attendees.
