Exciting Halloween Events Await Families in Westman Area

As Halloween approaches, the Westman region is bustling with a variety of festive events catering to families, children, and adults. From haunted houses to trivia nights, the local community is embracing the spirit of the season with activities designed to entertain and engage all ages.
Family-Friendly Attractions
One of the highlights for younger children is the haunted greenhouse at the Alternative Choice Garden Centre. Designed for kids aged two to ten, this attraction aims to provide a gentle introduction to Halloween, free from jump scares. According to marketing manager Mike Mair, the greenhouse features a haunted house, a colouring area, and plenty of plants to make the experience immersive. The event runs from October 14 to 31, with operating hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends. Admission is set at $10 for a family pass, allowing unlimited visits during the two-week period, with proceeds going to Westman Dreams for Kids.
Families can also head to Lucky Break Ranch for a range of activities, including a pumpkin carving contest, carnival games, and a haunted forest walk. The ranch will host these events from October 16 to 19, featuring a dedicated family area alongside the scarier attractions. Owner Kim Richardson highlighted the importance of offering options for various comfort levels, stating, “If you’re scared, you don’t have to go in the forest at night. There’s still stuff going on out front.” Entry fees are $5 for youth, $8 for adults, and $20 for a family pass, with proceeds supporting CancerCare Manitoba and the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
Engaging Activities for Adults
For older teens and adults, the Dock on Princess will host a murder-mystery game night on October 29. Guests will receive a package of clues to solve the case of the pop star Luna Knight, who was murdered backstage at her concert. General manager Erin Wells described it as a fun way to gather friends and engage in a mystery. The event is free, but guests are encouraged to reserve their tables in advance due to limited seating.
Additionally, a Halloween-themed trivia night is set for October 30 at T-Birds Food Fun Games. The event will feature questions related to Halloween, including topics like scary movies and Halloween history. Recreation coordinator Brady Dane mentioned that the event quickly filled up, prompting staff to consider expanding capacity. Teams of up to four can participate for an entry fee of $40, with prizes awarded to the top three teams.
The local community is embracing the Halloween season with a range of events, ensuring that there is something for everyone, regardless of age or fear threshold. These initiatives not only promote festive fun but also foster community spirit and support local causes.
