Ottawa 67’s Dominate Kingston Frontenacs 3-0 in Key Shutout
URGENT UPDATE: The Ottawa 67’s delivered an emphatic performance, shutting out the Kingston Frontenacs 3-0 at Slush Puppie Place on October 27, 2023. This marks the second time this season the 67’s have defeated Kingston, following their season opener victory on September 19.
The Frontenacs faced significant challenges, missing several key players. Despite their efforts, the team could not find their rhythm, as the 67’s dominated the game, outshooting Kingston 31-13. Goaltender Gavin Betts was the standout for Kingston, making crucial saves to prevent a more significant deficit.
Midway through the first period, Jack Dever opened the scoring for Ottawa, followed by Filip Ekberg, who netted a goal during a power play in the second period. The game concluded with an empty-net goal from Nic Whitehead in the final two minutes, sealing the victory for the 67’s.
Ottawa’s goalie, Ryder Fetterolf, faced minimal threats, earning a well-deserved shutout with only a few shots on goal. This victory propels Ottawa’s record to an impressive 6-1-0-1, while Kingston’s record now sits at 5-3-0-1.
As the season progresses, both teams will need to recalibrate. Kingston must address its shortcomings to regain its winning form. Fans will be watching closely as the next matchups approach, eager to see how both teams respond to this pivotal moment in the season. The 67’s continue to build on their momentum, solidifying their position as a team to watch in the coming weeks.
