WRPS Investigates Urgent Suspicious Jewelry Swaps in Kitchener
BREAKING: Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is urgently investigating two suspicious jewelry swap attempts that occurred in Kitchener on October 17. Authorities believe these two incidents are connected, raising concerns in the community.
The first incident unfolded at approximately 2:30 PM near Oprington Drive and Benesfort Drive. A victim was approached by a vehicle containing three individuals who exited and attempted to place jewelry on the victim. The victim declined, and the suspects fled before police arrived. Thankfully, no one was harmed during this unsettling encounter.
Less than an hour later, at 3:20 PM, a second similar incident was reported near Margaret Avenue and Fairfield Avenue. In this case, two individuals approached another victim, attempting to place jewelry on them while trying to remove items the victim was already wearing. Again, the suspects escaped prior to police intervention, and no injuries were reported.
WRPS is now actively working to identify the suspects involved in these suspicious activities. Investigators have released photos of the vehicles connected to both incidents and are seeking public assistance. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the suspects or the jewelry swaps to contact WRPS at 519-570-9777 or submit an anonymous tip through Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
As these incidents spark concern among residents, WRPS stresses the importance of community vigilance. The police are committed to ensuring public safety and are intensifying their efforts to resolve these alarming cases.
