Experience Thrills and Chills at Kingston’s Weekend Events

Kingston is set to come alive with a variety of exciting events this weekend, offering something for everyone. From immersive workshops to festive celebrations, the community is encouraged to participate in activities that embrace the spirit of the Halloween season.
Engaging Workshops and Musical Experiences
On Friday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Tett Centre for Creativity and Learning will host the “Monsterslayer School” workshop. This unique event, presented by the Ironwood Sword School, introduces participants to authentic medieval martial arts in a safe and entertaining Halloween-themed environment. Attendees will learn techniques using historical weapons while exploring the folklore of dark creatures. Registration is required, and tickets are priced at $27. Students aged 16 and 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Also taking place on Friday at 6:30 p.m. is a captivating concert at The Spire, featuring the acclaimed Listeso String Quartet. The performance will transform the venue into a multi-sensory experience with candlelight illuminating the space. The quartet will perform Vivaldi’s Four Seasons along with selections from Massenet and Piazzolla, promising a rich musical journey.
Family-Friendly Festivities and Community Sales
Saturday offers a plethora of family-friendly activities, beginning with the Great Pumpkin Party hosted by Brookland Fine Homes at the BGC South East from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.. This event supports the United Way Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington and features a Halloween maze, inflatables, and a costume contest, all for a ticket price of $5 per person.
For those looking to shop, the Kingston Gospel Temple will hold one of the largest consignment sales in the area on Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.. Thousands of items, ranging from preemie to adult and maternity sizes, will be available. Admission for the pre-sale is $5, with the public sale costing $2—children under 12 enter free.
Later on Saturday, the Odessa Agricultural Society will host its annual Trunk-or-Treat & Crafts event from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Odessa Fairgrounds. Families are invited to celebrate Halloween by visiting decorated vehicle trunks for treats in a safe environment. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes and bring bags for collecting goodies.
For those seeking a spine-chilling experience, the Broom Factory will feature an eerie installation titled “Creepy Dolls” on Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.. Visitors will encounter an array of dolls, each with its own backstory, in a setting designed to provoke both laughter and fright.
This weekend in Kingston promises to be filled with excitement, creativity, and community spirit, making it an ideal time for locals and visitors alike to engage in the festivities. Whether you’re looking to learn, shop, or simply enjoy the atmosphere, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
