Overview of Short-Term Programs

The five Short-Term programs to be offered in spring 2026 are as follows:

1. **Appliance Repair Technician**: Running from January 13 to April 23, this in-person program trains students to assist clients with the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of household appliances. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:30 to 21:30 at Kishwaukee College.

2. **Dental Assistant**: This course, taking place from January 12 to April 10, combines online lectures with in-person practice. Dental assistants play a crucial role in supporting dentists and dental hygienists by providing preventive care and administrative support. Participants will engage in online instruction asynchronously, with in-person practice scheduled from 18:00 to 21:00 on four Tuesdays at a local dental office.

3. **Pharmacy Technician**: Available from January 12 to April 24, this online program prepares students to assist pharmacists in dispensing prescription medications and managing various pharmacy tasks. The course is also offered asynchronously, and eligible participants may access funding through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA).

4. **Real Estate Broker Pre-License**: This program is set for January 13 to March 5 and will be conducted online. Aspiring real estate brokers will learn essential skills for marketing properties, managing escrow accounts, and ensuring legal compliance in transactions. Online instruction will occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 18:00 to 21:00.

5. **Sterile Processing Technician**: Running from January 12 to April 17, this online program focuses on the critical role of sterile processing technicians in healthcare settings. Students will learn how to decontaminate, clean, and sterilize medical devices and supplies required for patient care. Instruction will be provided asynchronously.

These programs not only provide valuable skills but also assist in addressing the local workforce’s needs. By offering a variety of formats, Kishwaukee College aims to accommodate the diverse learning preferences of its students.

As the demand for skilled professionals continues to rise, Kishwaukee College’s Short-Term programs present a timely opportunity for individuals looking to enter or advance in these essential fields.
