Saskatoon Jewellery Brand Expands to Alberta with New Store
A prominent jewellery brand from Saskatoon is set to make its debut in Alberta with a new store opening at West Edmonton Mall in mid-November 2025. Santorini Design, founded by mother-daughter duo Hannah Erci and Khadijah Ahmed, has gained a loyal customer base in Saskatoon since its launch in 2015. The opening in Edmonton marks a significant milestone for the brand as it expands into a new province.
The journey for Santorini Design began with its first retail location opening in 2018, following initial operations focused on warehousing. Like many small businesses, Erci and Ahmed faced significant challenges during the pandemic. Nevertheless, they credit their strong community connections for helping them navigate these obstacles and continue to grow their brand.
Hannah Erci joined the family business at the young age of 16, taking charge of the website, social media, and marketing. Her mother, Khadijah Ahmed, brought over 25 years of retail experience to the venture. Together, they have cultivated a brand known for its timeless jewellery designs, primarily manufactured in China, Italy, Turkey, and Greece, reflecting the Mediterranean inspiration behind its name.
The decision to open a store in Edmonton was not made lightly. Erci reminisced about her childhood visits to the city, noting its significance in the lives of many Saskatchewan residents. “Any long weekend or sports tournament, you go to Edmonton, and it’s a big deal because you get to go to the mall,” she said. With the West Edmonton Mall being widely recognized across Canada, the pair felt it was the perfect location for their expansion.
A significant factor in their choice was the mall’s heavy foot traffic and the welcoming culture of Edmonton. “People have been so enthusiastic. They’re excited to be part of a small Canadian brand that’s growing,” Ahmed stated. This enthusiasm from potential customers has further motivated the duo to establish a presence in Edmonton.
As they look to the future, Erci and Ahmed plan to focus on building strong relationships with their new customers in Edmonton. “We’ve become friends with a lot of our customers. That’s something we never want to lose, no matter how big we get,” Erci emphasized.
Both owners describe their working relationship as a close partnership, often thinking alike and sharing a similar pace in their decision-making. “It’s kind of creepy sometimes,” Erci joked. “We’ll argue for two seconds, and then we’re like, ‘Okay, want to grab something to eat?’”
Santorini Design’s new location at West Edmonton Mall will open its doors on November 15, 2025, at the address 8882 170th St. NW, Edmonton. As they embark on this new chapter, the duo remains committed to their values, ensuring that their brand retains its community-focused ethos while expanding its reach across Canada.
