Twelve New Cottages Set to Transform Dalvay by the Sea
BREAKING NEWS: Twelve new cottages will soon rise at Dalvay by the Sea, marking a significant expansion aimed at boosting winter tourism. D.P. Murphy, the holding company managing the site, along with Parks Canada, has confirmed that construction could begin as early as this month, with plans to continue after winter.
This development is designed to enhance the tourist experience and extend the existing season, with the first public information session held on Saturday to inform residents about the project. Danny Cusack, a realty adviser for Parks Canada, emphasized the goal of making Dalvay more self-sustainable. “The twelve proposed cottages will bring more people to the area,” he stated, noting that the development aligns with the ongoing use of the property for tourism.
The cottages will be constructed on land that exceeds D.P. Murphy’s current lease. Cullen Mullally, D.P. Murphy’s legal counsel, revealed that thorough assessments including an environmental impact study and Indigenous consultations have paved the way for this initiative. “We’re hoping that everything goes to plan and we can start construction on some of the civil work later this month,” Mullally added.
This project is not just about increasing visitor numbers; it’s also about reinvesting revenue back into the hotel and surrounding area. The initiative aims to make the site more financially viable and to adapt to the needs of modern tourism. “We want to ensure that these cottages can be removed if necessary, showcasing our commitment to responsible development,” Mullally affirmed.
As public interest grows, the community is encouraged to participate in shaping the future of P.E.I.‘s national parks. This project could redefine the landscape of Dalvay by the Sea, making it a year-round destination for visitors.
Stay tuned for updates on this developing story as construction deadlines approach and further details emerge. This initiative represents a pivotal moment for tourism in the region, promising to attract more visitors and provide economic benefits to the local community.
