URGENT UPDATE: Malaysian rapper and filmmaker Namewee, whose real name is Wee Meng Chee, has been detained as part of an ongoing murder investigation involving Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yu-hsin. The shocking development occurred early Wednesday morning in Kuala Lumpur, where police are pursuing critical leads in Hsieh’s mysterious death.

Authorities confirmed that Hsieh, 31, was found lifeless in a hotel bathtub on October 22. Her death was initially classified as unexplained, but police recently reclassified it as a murder after uncovering new evidence, prompting the urgent search for Namewee.

Wee surrendered to police on November 1 and will remain under police custody for six days to assist with the investigation, his attorney Joshua Tay reported. The rapper was previously linked to Hsieh and was the last known person to have been with her before her death.

Hsieh, known to her fans as the “Nurse Goddess,” had a significant online presence with over 500,000 followers on Instagram and operated an OnlyFans account. She had arrived in Malaysia just two days before her death, on October 20, and was scheduled to stay for four days.

“I hope that the investigation will be carried out thoroughly and with the utmost objectivity and fairness,” said Tay.

Local media reports indicate that while Wee has been detained, he denies any involvement in Hsieh’s death. He expressed his sorrow over the incident and vowed to cooperate fully with investigators to uncover the truth. Police are currently awaiting the results of a full post-mortem and toxicology report before determining the official cause of death.

Namewee, 42, is no stranger to controversy. The provocative artist has faced multiple run-ins with authorities over his outspoken critiques of Malaysian politics, race, and religion in his music. Past incidents include the banning of his films and arrests for perceived offenses against Islam and societal norms.

This latest investigation has drawn significant public interest, igniting discussions on social media about the implications for both the influencer community and the music industry in Malaysia. As the investigation unfolds, many are left questioning the details surrounding Hsieh’s tragic death and Namewee’s involvement.

As this story develops, all eyes will be on the authorities for updates regarding the investigation. The public is urged to stay tuned for further announcements as the situation progresses.
