Beloved Gilbert Lofstrom Passes Away at 78, Memorial Service Planned

URGENT UPDATE: Gilbert Lofstrom, aged 78, has passed away peacefully at the Lady Dunn Health Centre, surrounded by his family on November 3, 2025. His death marks a profound loss for the family and community, as he leaves behind his beloved wife, Nancy Donald, and her three sons, Stephen Donald (Davideen Douchamie), Jeff Donald, along with four cherished grandchildren: Bryan, Stephen Douchamie, Joshua, and Liam Donald.

Gilbert is remembered fondly by Nancy’s family and extended relatives. He was the youngest of his siblings and was predeceased by his brothers and sisters: Margaret, Diane, Igmmar, and Ragnar (Reg). A resident of Oba in his earlier years, his legacy will live on through numerous nieces and nephews who cherished him deeply.

Cremation services are being handled by the River’s Edge Cremation Centre in Sault Ste. Marie. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 5, located at 51 Broadway Avenue, Wawa. The event will run from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., providing an opportunity for family and friends to pay their respects and share memories.
