Prince Harry Engages with Canadian Veterans During Toronto Visit
Prince Harry is scheduled to meet with veterans today at Sunnybrook Hospital’s Veterans Centre in Toronto. The visit, described as “private,” is part of a series of events organized in conjunction with Remembrance Day. Following the meeting, he will attend a fundraising dinner hosted by the charity True Patriot Love, which supports Canadian veterans.
On the previous day, the Duke of Sussex engaged with members of the Canadian Army’s reserve forces, specifically the Queen’s Own Rifles and the Royal Regiment of Canada. According to his official website, he observed a demonstration showcasing various skills, including performances by band members and dive teams, and participated in discussions with service members and their families regarding their dual roles as reservists and civilians. Although the website does not specify the location, it is likely that the visit took place at the Fort York Armoury, a prominent hub for reservists in the Greater Toronto Area.
Prince Harry’s current trip to Toronto marks his second visit to Canada in 2025. Earlier this year, he attended the Invictus Winter Games in British Columbia, where he expressed gratitude for the warm reception he and his wife, Meghan Markle, received from the Canadian public. The couple has a longstanding connection to Canada, having spent significant time in the country following their decision to step back from royal duties in 2020. Much of their early relationship unfolded in Toronto, where Meghan worked on the television series “Suits,” and they made their first public appearance together during the 2017 Invictus Games hosted in the city.
On the first day of his Toronto visit, Prince Harry remained largely out of the public eye, with plans to attend several events focusing on support for the Canadian Armed Forces and the veteran community. He is also expected to give a talk about veterans’ issues during a private lunch.
The timing of Prince Harry’s visit to Toronto has sparked discussions online, particularly due to the fact that his brother, Prince William, is currently in Brazil promoting The Earthshot Prize, a sustainability initiative. People magazine has indicated that this visit was planned over a year ago and that the royals were informed in advance. The recent announcement of his itinerary, however, has been attributed to ongoing security concerns, as Prince Harry no longer receives government-funded protection.
In addition to his advocacy work for veterans, Prince Harry served two tours in Afghanistan, which has significantly shaped his philanthropic focus on military issues. His visit to the Veterans Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital underscores his commitment to supporting those who have served in the armed forces.
As he wraps up his Toronto engagements, the annual True Patriot Love fundraising dinner will serve as a fitting conclusion to his visit, further highlighting his dedication to honoring and assisting veterans in Canada.
