Urgent: Ontario Trillium Benefit Payments Arrive on Nov. 10
UPDATE: The monthly Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) payments are set to hit bank accounts across Ontario on Monday, November 10, providing much-needed financial support to eligible residents. If you are registered to receive these payments, check your account early as funds will be available starting at 12:01 AM.
The OTB is a crucial tax-free benefit that combines three payments: the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit, the Northern Ontario Energy Credit, and the Ontario Sales Tax Credit. To qualify for monthly payments, residents must be eligible for at least one of these credits.
For those aged 18 to 64, the Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit can provide up to $1,283. Seniors aged 65 and older could receive as much as $1,461. Residents living in designated areas, such as reserves or public long-term care homes, may receive $285. Additionally, students in specific residences can claim $25 for the time spent in eligible housing during 2024, according to the Province’s official resources.
The Northern Ontario Energy Credit aims to assist low- to moderate-income residents facing higher energy costs. Eligible single individuals can receive up to $185, while families may benefit from a maximum of $285.
Furthermore, the Ontario Sales Tax Credit offers up to $371, with the potential for an additional $371 for spouses or common-law partners, as well as each dependent child under 19 years old on the first day of the payment month. Importantly, these credits do not affect GST/HST credit payments, ensuring that residents can maximize their financial support.
As a reminder, the next OTB payment after November will be distributed on December 10. If you do not receive your payment, wait 10 working days from the scheduled date before contacting the Canada Revenue Agency.
Additionally, Ontario residents can anticipate further financial assistance this month, with Canada Disability Benefit and Canada Child Benefit payments arriving on November 20. Payments from the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS) will follow on November 26, while Veteran Disability Pension deposits will be made on November 27.
This influx of financial aid is essential for many Ontario residents, providing timely support during challenging economic times. Stay tuned for further updates on these critical benefits and make sure you check your eligibility today!
