Australia Leads the World in AI Usage with 5 Million Interactions
A recent survey has identified Australia as the country most engaged with artificial intelligence (AI), recording over 5 million AI interactions per capita. According to a study conducted by Eskimoz, Australians utilize AI tools a staggering 1.35 billion times annually, reflecting a significant trend in technology dependence. The findings suggest that while AI usage is on the rise globally, the patterns of engagement vary considerably between nations.
The research evaluated three key factors related to AI activity: total visits to AI-themed websites and applications, traffic per 100,000 residents, and the rate of visits to AI tools. By focusing on per capita traffic, the study ensured that larger countries did not skew the results, allowing for a clear comparison of AI engagement across different populations.
Global AI Usage Trends
The results highlight Australia’s leading position, with an impressive 1.67% of its total AI interactions coming from AI tools, including chatbots and content generators. The Netherlands ranks second, with just under 5 million AI interactions per capita. In total, the Dutch engage with AI services over 917 million times annually, accounting for about 1% of their activity.
Canada occupies the third spot, averaging 4.8 million AI interactions per capita. Canadians utilize artificial intelligence approximately 2 billion times each year, with a notable 2.4% of these interactions directed toward specialized AI tools. This rate is significantly higher than that of Australia, indicating a growing interest in advanced AI applications.
The United States follows closely in fourth place, showcasing the highest overall traffic to AI platforms. In just one year, AI was used 16.4 billion times in the U.S., which is 14 billion more than any other country. Notably, AI tools account for 20% of all traffic, the highest share among the leading countries. Despite its large population, the U.S. maintains a strong interest in AI per capita, with approximately 4.7 million interactions.
The United Kingdom rounds out the top five, with an AI usage rate of 3.5 million interactions per capita. Total queries for AI in the UK reach around 2.4 billion annually, with AI tools making up 3% of this activity, demonstrating a robust engagement with artificial intelligence.
Other Notable Countries in AI Engagement
Germany ranks sixth in AI usage, posting a total of 2.6 billion interactions. The country shows a strong reliance on AI tools, which account for 3.18% of its total visits. Spain follows in seventh place, with AI activity comparable to Australia, recording around 1.4 billion interactions and a reliance on specialized tools at 1.77%.
France comes next, averaging 2.9 million AI interactions per capita. The nation surpasses Spain in total visits to AI platforms, reaching approximately 1.9 billion annually, with 2.4% of usage attributed to AI tools. Peru is the only South American country on the list, ranking ninth with an AI usage rate of 2.6 million interactions, amounting to 926 million total visits.
Finally, Malaysia completes the list of the top ten most AI-engaged countries, averaging 2.4 million interactions per 100,000 people. Total visits to AI platforms in Malaysia reach 888 million, with AI tools accounting for 1.09% of all interactions.
The study by Eskimoz underscores a growing global reliance on AI technologies, with Australia emerging as a leader in this field. As AI continues to evolve, the patterns of its usage will likely further shape the technological landscape worldwide.
