Australia Tops Global AI Usage with Over 5 Million Interactions Per Capita
A new survey highlights Australia as the leading nation in artificial intelligence (AI) usage, with an astonishing rate of over 5 million recorded interactions per capita. The study, conducted by the company Eskimoz, reveals that Australians utilize AI tools approximately 1.35 billion times each year, a reflection of the country’s deep engagement with this technology.
The findings indicate that the reliance on AI varies significantly across countries. Australia is followed closely by the Netherlands, where residents report around 4.9 million AI interactions per capita. In total, the Dutch engage with AI services approximately 917 million times annually, with AI tools accounting for 1.14% of that activity.
Global AI Usage Trends
The study evaluates several factors related to AI activity, including the total visits to AI-themed websites and applications, traffic per 100,000 residents, and the rate of visits to AI tools. This approach ensures that larger nations do not skew the results. The United States ranks fourth in per capita AI interactions, with a total of 16.4 billion visits annually, the highest in the world. Notably, AI tools represent 20% of all traffic, showcasing a robust engagement with specialized applications.
Canada ranks third, with a usage rate of 4.7 million interactions per capita. Canadians engage with AI technologies approximately 2 billion times each year, surpassing both Australia and the Netherlands in total usage. Interestingly, 2.4% of all AI queries in Canada involve specialized tools, indicating a preference for targeted applications over general usage.
The UK completes the top five, reporting 3.5 million AI interactions per capita. This translates to approximately 2.4 billion total queries annually, with AI tools making up 3% of that traffic. Germany closely follows, logging 2.6 billion total uses, while AI tools account for 3.18% of all visits.
AI Engagement Around the World
Spain ranks seventh in AI engagement, with a per capita usage rate of 3 million, leading to about 1.4 billion total interactions. In Spain, specialized AI tools constitute 1.77% of all interactions. France, in eighth place, averages 2.9 million interactions per capita, reaching a total of 1.9 billion AI visits, with a higher reliance on AI tools compared to Spain.
Peru stands out as the only South American country in the top ten, with an AI usage rate of 2.6 million. Total visits from Peru reach about 926 million, showing a significant dependency on AI technologies. Finally, Malaysia rounds out the list in tenth place, recording 2.4 million AI interactions per capita, totaling 888 million visits to AI platforms.
As the world becomes increasingly reliant on AI technology, these statistics underscore the varying levels of engagement across different nations. With Australia leading the way, it is evident that the appetite for AI is growing, shaping how societies interact with technology in their daily lives.
