La Salle-Peru High School Unveils Plans for Agriculture Program Expansion
La Salle-Peru Township High School is set to enhance its agriculture program with a community meeting scheduled for November 17, 2023, from 18:00 to 19:00 at the Matthiessen Memorial Auditorium. This meeting will highlight the plans for the next phase of the program, which aims to foster agricultural education in the region.
The school has recently appointed a full-time agriculture instructor, and the impact has been notable. Superintendent Steven Wrobleski remarked, “In less than one year of having a full-time Ag instructor, we’ve seen our budding program blossom with Cavalier students taking part in major projects and events at the local and national level.” This development underscores the school’s commitment to revitalizing its agriculture curriculum.
Building a dedicated Agriculture Center is a key component of this initiative. Wrobleski emphasized that the center will not only accelerate the program’s growth but also honor the commitments made to the agricultural community when the decision was taken to “Replant L-P’s Ag Program.” The school encourages all families and community members to participate in the upcoming meeting to learn more about these ambitious plans.
Funding for the Agriculture Center will primarily come from school district resources. However, community members and local businesses are encouraged to contribute through the “Plant a Legacy” initiative. This fundraising effort aims to alleviate project costs and bolster the agricultural education framework within the community.
“There are so many L-P alumni, community members, and businesses who believe in ag education in the Illinois Valley,” Wrobleski stated. He added that contributions to the Agriculture Center will be a lasting tribute, ensuring that future generations of Cavalier students have access to quality agricultural education.
During the meeting, details regarding various levels of donor recognition will be shared, allowing supporters to see how their contributions will be acknowledged. Interested individuals can reach out to Wrobleski directly at 815-223-2373 or via email at [email protected] for more information.
This initiative represents a significant step forward for La Salle-Peru Township High School, reflecting its dedication to enriching the educational experience for students in the agricultural sector. The upcoming meeting promises to be an informative session for all those interested in the future of agriculture education in the region.
