Fort William First Nation Launches Addiction Recovery Program
Fort William First Nation is introducing a new, cost-free addiction recovery program aimed at band members seeking to overcome substance abuse. The initiative is designed for individuals who are ready and committed to pursuing sobriety. According to a community bulletin, “A detox bed will be reserved before departure to a care facility to ensure your safety and comfort as you begin your healing journey.”
Participants must complete necessary intake forms and documentation prior to acceptance into the program. Interested individuals can reach out to the community’s mental health and addictions team by calling 807-622-8802 for more information.
Upcoming Wellness Workshop to Promote Overall Well-being
In addition to the recovery program, Fort William First Nation is set to host a wellness workshop on November 25, 2023, focusing on enhancing the well-being of local residents. The workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for recognizing the importance of maintaining physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness.
This workshop will be presented by the Biidaaban Healing Lodge, located in Biigtigong Nishnaabeg First Nation near Marathon, Ontario. Scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the community hall, the event promises an engaging environment for attendees. Those wishing to register can obtain further details by calling 807-229-3592, ext. 662.
These initiatives reflect Fort William First Nation’s commitment to improving the health and well-being of its community members. With a focus on recovery and holistic wellness, the programs offer vital support for those affected by addiction and promote overall community health.
